Job Description

alfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a HSES Project Partner (H&S Manager) to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business based in Boston.

Role Purpose:

  • To provide guidance; support, advice and governance to the Project/Business Area on all HSES related subjects. To manage Project HS&ES professionals within their area of control;
  • To directly partner with the Project Directors/Heads of Operations.

What you'll be doing

As HSES Project Partner you will:

  • Communicate and engage with their Project /Business area to implement the HSES strategy;
  • Manage the HSES resource to meet the requirements of their Project /Business area;
  • Ensure the business is compliant with all HSES Regulations, Company Policies and the BMS across their Project /Business area;
  • Provide HSES advice and support at an operational level;
  • Coach and mentor their direct reports for succession planning and professional/personal development;
  • Ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated across their Project /Business area;
  • Support HSES work winning activities across the business;
  • Regular communication and promoting engagement with key stakeholders;
  • Support and maintain a constant focus on the behavioural safety programme across their Project /Business area;
  • Support their Project /Business area during near miss/incident/accident investigations;
  • Support the HSES upskilling and development of the business operational teams;
  • Promote HSES initiatives and innovations across their Project /Business area;
  • Conducting site HSES audits,inspections, visits & joint tours;
  • Responsible for local & external audit programme across their Project /Business area;
  • Assist in the identification of site HSES training needs.

Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities and Experience:

  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (IOSH/IEMA) or working towards;
  • Educated to Diploma/Degree/HNC level;
  • Influencing and persuasion skills;
  • Analytical skills with an attention to detail;
  • Motivational, leadership and coaching skills;
  • Excellent communicator;
  • Displaying and demonstrating the Balfour Beatty behaviours at all times;
  • Experience of leading and managing teams;
  • Experienced incident investigator;
  • Experience of reviewing and producing HSES reports to executive level;
  • Relevant experience matched with their Project /Business area.
