Job Description

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Site Manager to join our Gas business unit to work in Wolverhampton/ West Midlands

 

Role purpose

A key member of the GDSP with front line management and day- to-day responsibility for safety, quality, cost control, customer and clients satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

As, MR1 Site Manager, you will be responsible for the following:-

  • Responsible for site activity from start to finish of construction of network;
  • Planning and programming the daily work to use all resources efficiently;
  • Personal safety, safety of other personnel under your authority and members of the public;
  • Reporting all accidents, dangerous, occurrences and near miss incidents on the company statutory forms;
  • Maintaining good relationships and set a personal example when visiting locations, clients councils and public;
  • Carrying out Risk and COSHH Assessments, Method Statements, Safety and Quality inspections;
  • Implementing Company Safety policy and Quality / Environment & Security procedures;
  • Setting high standards of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental awareness;
  • Ensuring all persons wear the correct personal protective equipment as required for the task Guarantee that company vehicles and equipment are clean, calibrated and safe to use;
  • Ensuring persons under your authority are made aware of their responsibilities;
  • Identifying and promoting training for subordinate staff;
  • Reviewing operational shift arrangements and update as required;
  • Supporting engineers with technical advice and problem resolution;
  • Resolving customer complaints and work with strong customer focus, supporting an increased OFGEM score;
  • Carrying out investigations into technical non compliance and safety related incidents, such as damages to other utilities, plant/equipment/NLTI/LTI. Close out of these investigations;
  • Considering ways of working, seeking efficiency and improvements;
  • Ensuring compliance to Streetworks and NRSWA;
  • General tasks as required and directed in support of the Construction Manager.

Who we're looking for

The following qualifications and experience are essential:-

  • Valid U.K Clean Driving Licence;
  • Streetworks Units 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16 qualifications;
  • Direct supervisory experience in the utilities industry/Civil Engineering;
  • People management and leadership skills;
  • Customer service skills;
  • Able to work as part of a team;
  • Willing to work at different locations as required.

The following qualifications and experience are desirable:-

  • CDM/ Risk Assessment trained or equivalent;
  • SHEA Gas Card;
  • NCO Gas Level 3 qualification;
  • SCO Level 1, 2 & 5 qualification;
  • Working towards or willing to work towards Technical Engineer level of IGEM;
  • Registered as Competent Person on National Grid register;
  • First level Project Management qualification.
